AICC Certifies Plateau Enterprise Learning Management System

Tests Affirm Plateau's Dedication to Open Standards and Interoperability

FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA JUNE 4, 2001 The Aviation Industry CBT Committee (AICC) announced today that Plateau System's learning management system has been formally certified as compliant with the AICC's Web-Based Computer Managed Instruction Systems (CMI) Guideline.

AICC compliance gives customers assurance that software such as Plateau's Enterprise Learning Management System (ELMS) is compatible with other AICC conforming Web-based learning content and courseware, and can be used across multiple industries.

Plateau is an active AICC member that has worked with the committee to create open standards and interoperability guidelines for Internet-based learning systems. An independent lab tested Plateau's ELMS version 3.4, and the AICC overwhelmingly voted last week to formally certify its compliance for CMI guidelines.

Our executives have worked directly with the AICC for years to increase the open standards and interoperability of software in the e-Learning industry, said Ed Cohen, Chief Technology Officer for Plateau. This certification reinforces our dedication to the creation of a global standard for learning technology.

Plateau's AICC certification is certainly good news for the aviation industry and any other industry that has to deliver regulatory-required training online, said William A. McDonald, Learning Technology Architect for FlightSafetyBoeing and Chair of the AICC's Independent Test Lab Committee. This clearly demonstrates that Plateau is indeed committed to providing courseware interoperability for its customers.

The AICC is an international association of technology-based training professionals. While its mission is to create open standards for computer based training in the aviation industry, AICC guidelines are being used by software vendors across a variety of industries, and are paving the way for the global standardization of learning technologies.

Standards such as those set by the AICC and SCORM allow courseware and learning management systems to convey information and be integrated - and they give consumers a level of confidence that the content and the learning management system will work together to provide a complete solution.

Plateau's learning management system, which is used by Global 2000 enterprises, regulated industries and government agencies around the world, complies with virtually all the standards set by AICC and SCORM.
