ARLINGTON, VIRGINIA August 8, 2001 Plateau Systems, a provider of software that manages learning and improves business processes for organizations, and Luminant Worldwide Corporation (NASDAQ: LUMT), a leading provider of technology-enabled business solutions, announced today a strategic alliance to jointly identify, develop and rapidly implement learning management solutions for Global 1000 corporations that want to integrate learning into all of their business processes.
The two companies will pursue new opportunities with business and government organizations across the United States and Europe, leveraging Luminant's enabling solutions expertise in digital education, systems development and enterprise application integration (EAI), and Plateau's Internet hosted services and award-winning Learning Management System (LMS). The companies will focus on integration with other enterprise applications and Plateau's LMS to help clients better leverage software investments.
Plateau's latest version of its LMS incorporates leading-edge technologies that allow it to seamlessly integrate with other enterprise applications. It is one of the first fully Web-enabled, J2EE/EJB-compliant, n-tiered, AICC-certified and SCORM compliant learning management systems. Plateau's upgraded LMS is also compliant with Federal Section 508 standards relating to the Rehabilitation Act, which requires federal agencies to use information technology that is accessible to people with disabilities.
Plateau and Luminant share strong roots in the transportation, energy, manufacturing, aviation and pharmaceutical markets. Both companies recognize that as corporations grasp the full functionality of enterprise-class learning management systems, they are exploring ways to integrate them with other enterprise applications. Luminant specializes in EAI with content management systems, portal development tools, wireless applications, and other software systems.
Plateau has a stellar reputation and develops one of the few learning management systems that can fully meet the needs of Global 1000 enterprises, said Jim Corey, President and CEO of Luminant. Its industry-leading architecture and scalability make the Plateau LMS ideally suited for integrations with other enterprise systems, a capability that our customers greatly desire.
