Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department Selects Plateau Systems
Plateau LMS Gives Police Department Bulletproof Training Records, Allows Officers to Plan Their Law Enforcement Careers
ARLINGTON, VA September 13, 2001 - Plateau Systems, a provider of software that manages learning and improves business processes for organizations, announced today the Charlotte Mecklenburg (N.C.) Police Department has selected the Plateau Learning Management System (LMS) to deliver a blend of Web-based and instructor-led training for 2,000 officers, supervisors and investigators.
Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) plans to use Plateau LMS to track and manage all learning across the department, providing an audit trail of each officer's training history and automatically alerting officers when they require retraining for firearms, radar certification, CPR, hazardous materials, OSHA instruction and diversity training.
CMPD, which has a jurisdiction that includes the city of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County, also plans to use Plateau LMS' career planning and succession planning tools to help officers proactively develop career tracks, and to help supervisors select the most qualified personnel for new positions.
Prior to using the Plateau LMS, our officers called by telephone to schedule much of their training, and supervisors approved that training manually, said Officer Brian Russell, in-service training coordinator of CMPD. Using Plateau, we will fully automate our training regimen and put much of it online, so our officers can make better use of their time, and better plan their futures in law enforcement.
