Plateau Systems Engineering Executive Named One of Top Tech Managers in Washington D.C. Area

Washington Post Cites Hung Vu For His Leadership in Heading Team that Creates Industry-Leading Learning Management System

ARLINGTON, VA, October 12, 2001 The Washington Post and Washington Techway Magazine have named Hung Vu Plateau's Vice President of Product Engineering - one of the 10 best high-tech managers in the Washington metropolitan area for 2001. Vu is featured this month in articles in both Washington Techway Magazine and Washtech.com the Post's online technology section.

Vu, who led a six-month effort to build the latest version of Plateau's enterprise-class Learning Management System, was selected out of hundreds of high-tech executives in Washington, Maryland and Virginia. He was the only person selected who is not a company president or chief executive officer. Judges cited Vu's business and interpersonal skills, and his ability to tie together a team of 27 software developers working on a tight deadline.

A former Naval aviator, Vu came to Plateau Systems from Proxicom, where he built and managed the company's Quality Assurance/Quality Control/Tools division. Vu brought 15 years of IT software engineering experience to Plateau. He also brought leadership. Under Vu's guidance, Plateau's developers engineered the Plateau 4 Learning Management System (LMS) with forward-looking, J2EE/EJB architecture, enabling Plateau to become a technology leader in the e-Learning industry.

Vu held his team together as they worked 12 to 14 hour days - including weekends - by cooking them omelets, bringing in professional masseuses, taking the group on day trips and providing a steady, calming influence as pressure mounted. Vu's engineering team completed in six months a job that realistically could have taken more than a year. Several of Plateau's competitors have spent years trying to port their software applications to J2EE/EJB architecture, and still have not completed the task.

Hung Vu exemplifies what Plateau is all about, said Paul Sparta, Plateau's Chairman and CEO. His ability is exceptional, but more importantly, his leadership creates a work environment that is challenging and fulfilling.
