Plateau Systems Expands Commitment to Government Learning
Plateau Awarded GSA Schedule Contract as Federal Sales Effort Grows Across the United States; Plateau CTO to Speak at E-Gov Conference in December
ARLINGTON, VA November 15, 2001 Plateau Systems, a provider of enterprise-class software that manages learning and knowledge processes for organizations, has been awarded a GSA Schedule Contract allowing government agencies to easily procure the Plateau 4 Learning Management System (LMS) and Plateau's other products and services. The GSA award comes as Plateau's sales force and executive team broaden their efforts to provide learning management and technological expertise to government agencies.
Plateau's products and services are now available to all government agencies and organizations on GSA Information Technology Schedule (No. GS-35F-0069M). Plateau, which provides computer and Web-based learning for more than 500,000 U.S. Air Force personnel, has hired Federal Sales Director Rick Lohmar to manage its nationwide government operations. Lohmar served as a federal sales director for PeopleSoft before coming to Plateau. He has 20 years of experience working with government customers.
Plateau 4 LMS is the fourth generation of Plateau's software to manage Web-based and instructor-led learning for large, diversified government organizations. Plateau 4 LMS complies with Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, which requires federal agencies to use information technology accessible to those with disabilities. It also complies with open standards such as SCORM, AICC, ADL and IMS, ensuring that standards-based courseware can easily be launched and tracked by the system.
Using Plateau 4 LMS, government agencies can efficiently manage and deliver all methods of online and classroom learning for employees, customers and partners. Its J2EE/EJB-based architectures provides scalability and flexibility, and its career and succession planning tools allow employees and administrators to map out careers and select the right people for individual jobs. Additionally, it allows government agencies and the military to create readiness programs by managing training resources, employee histories and organizational knowledge.
Plateau has a deep understanding of learning and knowledge process requirements in the government arena, said Rick Lohmar. Our implementation for the U.S. Air Force is one of the largest, most complex e-Learning initiatives in the government, and we are proud to offer similar solutions to the wide spectrum of federal, state and local agencies looking to better train, manage and retain their employees and personnel.
The United States Air Force's Air Education and Training Command (AETC) has used the Plateau LMS since 1997 to provide technical and advanced career training to more than 500,000 personnel at five bases in the United States. Earlier this year, Air Force AETC expanded its relationship with Plateau, signing a contract to deliver Web-based distance learning to forces deployed around the world.
This December, Plateau Chief Technology Officer Edward Cohen will offer his expertise on standards-based learning in a presentation to the E-Gov Conference in Washington D.C. Cohen is one of the nation's leading experts on e-Learning industry standards, and has worked with SCORM and ADL committees to develop standards based on instructional design principles.
