Plateau Systems Named One of Virginia's Fastest-growing Companies in 2003 'Fantastic 50'
Plateau ranked no. 5 overall by Virginia Chamber of Commerce for its revenue growth over the past four years
ARLINGTON, VIRGINIA May 6, 2003 Plateau Systems, a provider of enterprise software that manages all of an organization's learning and knowledge, today announced that it was named one of Virginia's Fantastic 50 for 2003, an award given to the state's 50 fastest-growing private companies by the Virginia Chamber of Commerce. The awards were presented on April 30 at a banquet at the Richmond Marriott.
The 50 winning companies were honored for the contribution they make to the economy by creating new jobs and capital investment. The Chamber ranked the winners in order of their revenue growth over a four-year period from 1998 to 2001; Plateau was the fifth company listed, with 517 percent growth over that time frame. Plateau has enjoyed 100 percent year-over-year revenue growth for the last three consecutive years, and is generating cash. The company has grown its employee base by more than 200 percent since 2001, and has opened offices across the United States.
We're proud to be recognized for the success we've had building our company. Virginia is a great place to grow a business, said Paul Sparta, Plateau's CEO and Chairman. Technology companies have been faced with obvious challenges in the past few years, from intense competition to difficult markets. For Plateau to surmount those obstacles and win an award like this is a testament to the tenacity of our entire team and the quality of the product we've built.
These growing companies are proof positive that optimism is very much alive and well in Virginia's business community, said Hugh Keogh, president of the Virginia Chamber of Commerce. Keogh saluted Virginia's growing businesses for creating jobs, dispersing economic vitality across the Commonwealth and establishing Virginia as a leader in 21st century innovation.
Nominations for the Fantastic 50 were sought from privately held companies statewide. The accounting firm of Goodman & Company LLP verified the entries. In addition to the Virginia Chamber and Goodman & Company, the Fantastic 50 award program is sponsored by Virginia Business magazine, SunTrust Bank and the Virginia Center for Innovative Technology.
