Lockheed Martin Selects Software from Plateau Systems to Manage Security Training at U.S. Airports as Part of its Contract with TSA
ARLINGTON, VA - June 5, 2003 Plateau Systems, the leading provider of enterprise learning management systems, today announced that Plateau 4 Learning Management System (LMS) has been selected by Lockheed Martin as part of its specialized security training contract with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to manage all online, classroom and on-the-job security training for more than 55,000 TSA employees, who are charged with protecting the nation's airports and other modes of transportation against terrorism.
As a sub-contractor to Lockheed Martin under TSA's Specialized Security Training contract, Plateau is providing the software infrastructure to consolidate all of TSA's learning and knowledge readiness initiatives on one platform. This allows individual regions and airports to manage their own training while giving TSA officials a holistic view of agency readiness. In the initial phase of the contract, Lockheed Martin is developing and delivering security training to all TSA airport baggage and passenger screeners, using Plateau 4 LMS to manage the scheduling, deployment and data related to online and traditional training sessions. The initial $8.9 million Lockheed Martin contract has four option years. TSA currently plans to also engage Lockheed Martin Systems Management and Plateau to eventually manage security training for Federal Air Marshals, Federal Flight Deck Officers, and federal security screeners.

As a branch of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), TSA faces the complex task of training its personnel on anti-terrorism detection and ensuring they are kept up to date on new threats. Using Plateau 4 LMS, TSA will be able to automatically create customized learning development plans for employees based on their job position, and automatically alert by email affected workers when threats arise or training procedures are modified.
