Plateau 4 LMS Goes Live as Enterprise Learning Architecture for Bristol-Myers Squibb
ARLINGTON, Va., January 21, 2004 — Plateau Systems announced today that Bristol-Myers Squibb (NYSE: BMY) has expanded its use of Plateau's enterprise software by going live on the latest generation of Plateau's software -- Plateau 4 LMS -- across all divisions and business units. The project was initiated in 1997 to deliver Web-based SAP training for its Human Resources and Information Technology departments. The system has now been expanded to include multiple software integrations, consolidation of training groups onto one system, and support of multiple languages on a single database and application server instance.
Plateau 4 LMS is a fully Web-based, J2EE/EJB platform which aligns learning and knowledge management to all of a company's corporate objectives -- and makes it easy for employees to take courses or collaborate via the Web or in the classroom. Consolidating corporate learning on Plateau 4 LMS allows companies to support the following:
- Access to personalized, "anytime, anywhere" learning through a Web
- Interface for employees, supporting multiple languages
- Competency management tools to empower employees and administrators
- Custom course development, tailored to business goals
- Real-time learning to support global product launches
- Reduction of time away from the job
- Compliance with U.S. and international regulatory requirements
- Sustained leadership development
- Future e-Business initiatives to educate customers
Upgrading to Version 4 of the LMS lays the foundation for future integration efforts with human resources and enterprise content management systems. These integrations will allow the company to automate the creation of development plans for all employees and automatically revise training curricula as procedures change. In organizations that modify quality control and manufacturing procedures hundreds to thousands of times a month, these integrations have proved invaluable.
Additionally, Plateau 4 LMS also allows companies to validate training efforts with the manufacturing guidelines. Plateau's ability to support PIN-based electronic signatures and place unique time stamps on all learning activities have helped more than a dozen health-related organizations comply with FDA and international regulations.
"The revolutionary work done by Plateau illustrates the fact that an enterprise LMS can truly touch all parts of an organization and create wide efficiencies if implemented with a strategic vision," said Paul Sparta, Plateau's chairman and CEO.
