ARLINGTON, VA • April 13, 2004 - Plateau Systems, the leading provider of enterprise software that manages learning and knowledge readiness, announced today that it was named a 2004 Computerworld Honors Laureate and received a Medal of Achievement at San Francisco City Hall on Sunday, April 4. Morgan Stanley, the global financial services firm, nominated Plateau for the prestigious award, which recognizes organizations for their visionary use of information technology to benefit society.
As part of the Computerworld Honors Foundation award process, Plateau submitted a case study on its development of enterprise Learning Management Systems (LMS). The case study is now an official part of an international archive on innovative technology. "The Computerworld Honors Foundation Medal of Achievement is presented annually to organizations around the world that have made outstanding progress for society through their visionary use of information technology," said Patrick J. McGovern, Chairman of the Computerworld Honors Foundation Chairmen's Committee and founder of International Data Group.
"This award is a unique honor, designed for companies with leading edge technologies. I was pleased to nominate Plateau," said Merritt Lutz, Advisory Director, Morgan Stanley, Chairman of MSIT Holdings, Inc., and member of The Computerworld Honors Foundation Chairmen's Committee, who nominated Plateau Systems for inclusion in the 2004 Education & Academia category.
The 2004 Collection includes case studies from 54 countries, which are archived in libraries, museums, and academic and research institutions around the world. The case studies serve as primary source material for scholars, and as a resource for individuals who hope to use information technology to create solutions to address their own challenges.
"Each year, the Computerworld Honors Foundation identifies and recognizes organizations around the world whose visionary use of information technology produces and promotes positive social, economic and educational change," said Bob Carrigan, President and Publisher of Computerworld. "The innovators represented in this Collection have been recognized by the leading IT industry Chairmen as true revolutionaries in their fields."
"Plateau is honored to receive such a prestigious award from Computerworld, particularly after being nominated by a truly visionary company in the business, financial services and IT communities - Morgan Stanley," said Paul Sparta, Plateau's Chairman and CEO, who accepted the award from Computerworld on April 4. "We intend to ensure that we are worthy of this prestigious listing by providing customers around the world with technology that enables them to empower their most precious resource: the employees who work for them."
