DTE Energy Deploying Plateau 4 LMS Enterprise-Wide to Support Learning for 12,000 Employees
Diversified Electric and Gas Energy Management Company Cites Strategic Learning Initiatives and Web-based J2EE Architecture as Principal Drivers
ARLINGTON, Va. • July 29, 2004 - Plateau Systems, the leading provider of enterprise software that manages learning and knowledge readiness, announced today that DTE Energy (NYSE: DTE) has selected Plateau 4 Learning Management System (LMS) to support strategic learning initiatives across its enterprise. DTE Energy is a Detroit-based diversified energy company that develops and manages energy-related businesses and services nationwide. Its subsidiaries include Detroit Edison, serving 2.1 million customers and Michigan Consolidated Gas Co., serving 1.2 million customers.
Fermi 2, a nuclear generating unit of Detroit Edison, has been using Plateau 4 LMS for nearly two years to manage, deploy and track training related to nuclear power plant refueling. Success with Plateau 4 LMS within that business unit was instrumental in the decision to roll out Plateau's LMS enterprise-wide. The expanded implementation, which will occur in three phases over the rest of this year, will replace and consolidate a variety of isolated learning platforms and increase the total number of DTE Energy LMS end-users from approximately 1,100 to 12,000.
"Plateau favorably streamlined and eased our strategic training management requirements for our nuclear business units," said Gayle Ashbridge, director of organizational learning for DTE Energy. "Implementing Plateau 4 LMS across the enterprise will enable DTE Energy to more efficiently and effectively deploy both e-learning and blended learning approaches at an organizational level."
Plateau's enterprise platform will support three key organizational learning objectives:
- Enable the capability to launch, manage and track online learning content
- Provide increased visibility and accountability of strategic training initiatives
- Expand the capability of DTE Energy's learning curriculum to enhance professional career development and succession planning
Enterprise Learning Associates (ELA), an organizational learning consultancy, assisted DTE Energy in its decision to select Plateau Systems based on the energy company's business goals, compliance requirements and information technology requirements. ELA says Plateau's J2EE-based platform uniquely fit DTE Energy's information technology requirements.
"DTE Energy has a world-class learning organization, and we are proud to work with the company as it expands its use of technology to enhance performance and readiness," said Paul Sparta, Chairman and CEO of Plateau Systems. "DTE Energy's use of Plateau 4 LMS to increase the efficiency of organizational learning and improve the professional development of employees sets new standards within the energy industry and the wider corporate world."
With nearly 20 Global 2000 customers in the energy market, Plateau Systems continues to strengthen and extend its positive reputation in the industry. Energy customers come from several segments of the industry including energy transmission, nuclear power, utility, oil and gas.
